BGN Receives Public Input to Improve MBG Quality

JAKARTA - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) stated that 2,213 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) were still suspended to improve the quality of the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG).

Thousands of SPPG were suspended by considering input from the community, officials in the region, the results of surprise inspections (sidak), and monitoring of prominent events experienced by beneficiaries.

"Since the MBG program started on January 6, 2025 to May 29, 2026, out of a total of 27,208 SPPGs currently operating throughout Indonesia, as many as 8,182 SPPGs have been suspended," said Deputy Head of BGN for Public Communication and Investigation Nanik S. Deyang in a statement. official in Jakarta, Monday.

From all regions, a total of 8,182 SPPG have been suspended, with 5,659 SPPG having resumed operations because they have met the requirements. Meanwhile, 2,213 SPPG still have to undergo a suspension period (suspend) because they have not met the requirements according to technical instructions, both SPPG management and buildings.

In Region I which includes the island of Sumatra, of the 5,968 SPPGs that are already operating, currently there are 148 SPPGs that are still suspended. In Region II which includes the island of Java, of the 16,594 SPPGs that are already operating, currently there are 1,666 SPPGs that are still suspended.

Meanwhile, in Region III, which includes the islands of Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara, Maluku and Papua, of the 4,646 SPPG that have been operating, currently there are 399 SPPG that are still suspended.

Each SPPG can be sanctioned for various reasons. For example, the menu produced by the SPPG causes prominent events such as digestive disorders, diarrhea, and vomiting; the menu served by the SPPG does not match the budget for raw material expenses, namely Rp. 8,000 and Rp. 10,000; deliberately raising (mark up) the price of raw materials; and if the SPPG building flow does not comply with technical instructions.

In addition, it is also because SPPG has not registered the Certificate of Public Hygiene (SLHS); has not had a Waste Water Treatment Plant (IPAL); and has not prepared a mess for the head of SPPG, nutrition supervisor, and financial supervisor, can also be sanctioned with suspension. Likewise for SPPG who do not have kitchen equipment according to the regulations; governance management is not run properly; disputes between partners and foundations; and have suppliers less than 15.

The number of SPPG that has been suspended also has the potential to increase again, considering that currently BGN requires that each SPPG distributes a minimum of MBG for 300 beneficiaries of the pregnant mother, breastfeeding mother, and toddler (3B) groups.

"If by June 2, 2026 SPPG cannot show data on the provision of MBG to the 3B group, then SPPG will be suspended major (without incentives) and the head of SPPG will receive a stern warning," said Nanik.
