JAKARTA - The Head of the TNI AD Information Service, Brigadier General TNI Donny Pramono, emphasized the involvement of the Army in handling the robbery was part of a legal military operation other than war (OMSP) based on legal provisions.

He emphasized that the involvement of the TNI did not include law enforcement authority because it remained the responsibility of the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia.
Donny explained that the TNI AD only played a role in assisting the police through security activities such as joint patrols and humanizing education to the community regarding the prevention of street crime.
He said the TNI AD would continue to strengthen collaboration with the National Police to maintain public security and order.
Previously, the Head of the TNI Information Center, Brigadier General TNI Muhammad Nas, said that the TNI Commander, General TNI Agus Subiyanto, had given approval for TNI soldiers to help handle the begal action as part of support for the National Police.
"There is no special instruction from the TNI commander for the anti-beggar operation, but approves or allows the TNI to do so with the principle of the presence of soldiers in the field as part of efforts to help the National Police," said Nas.
Nas emphasized that the TNI would not be directly involved in the arrest, legal action, and the process of examining the perpetrators.
The presence of the TNI, he continued, is only limited to helping the National Police in ensuring that the community is protected from begal actions.
