JAKARTA - The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) RI reported that it had empowered 2,089 livestock breeders who were trained in 15 provinces throughout Indonesia on the momentum of Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah/2026 Masehi.
The Chairman of Baznas RI Sodik Mudjahid emphasized that the livestock hall program is Baznas' commitment to making the sacrificial ritual an instrument for empowering the community's economy and strengthening the welfare of rural communities.
"The 2026 Kurban Berkah Berdayakan Desa program has a double benefit, where Baznas ensures that the distribution of sacrificial animals is not only targeted for the poor to meet the needs of meat, but also provides sustainable economic impact for the poor farmers," said Sodik in Jakarta, Wednesday.
Sodik said that throughout 2026, Baznas RI prepared 3,359 local commodity male breeding livestock managed directly by 2,089 trained farmers in various regions, with a total allocation of funds reaching Rp. 39,221,779,338.
Currently, there are approximately 103 livestock centers spread across 15 provinces. The livestock centers built are able to meet the needs of Baznas sacrifices.
He said that in the future, Baznas would increase the number of trained breeders to more than 2,089 mustahik, including the number of livestock centers from the current 103 points to meet the needs of sacrificial animals in the future.
"For the location of development, we will further study it by strengthening cooperation with various parties, one of which is the Coordinating Minister for Social Empowerment to help alleviate poverty," he said.
According to him, the livestock hall program is part of Baznas' efforts in transforming mustahik into muzaki, especially in rural areas that have the potential to develop the livestock sector.
