JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is investigating a container containing parts at the Tanjung Emas Port, Semarang, which has been confiscated. The investigation was carried out by examining the state civil apparatus (ASN) of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise for Semarang as a witness on Monday, May 25.
The ASN Customs and Excise officers who were examined were Khanan, Budi Winanto, Sutopo, and Aditya Rahman Rony Putra. They were questioned about the process of entering and clearing containers that were said to have been in the port for more than 30 days.
"This has been examined. We confirm the existence of containers containing vehicle spare parts that were secured during a search by investigators," said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo to reporters through his written statement quoted Tuesday, May 26.
"We confirm why the container is still in the port even though it has been there for 30 days, how the entry process, the clearance process, all of that we delve into the business process and SOP and how it is in the field," he added.
In addition to the Semarang Customs ASN, the KPK also examined two private parties named Dana and Ign Denny Narendra. From the examination, investigators investigated the alleged provision of vehicle facilities for officials in the Directorate General of Customs and Excise.
"Well, of course this will also continue to be investigated as to why the importer provides vehicle facilities, yes, which are used by individuals at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. Of course this is also closely related to the gratification modes, of course, can be included in the elements of Article 12 B (Tipikor Law). Later we will see what it is like," he explained.
According to him, the vehicle was used by parties who have now been named as suspects in the case of alleged bribery of imported goods.
"So, the vehicles prepared and provided by the employers are used for the operations of the suspects, yes, who have been determined by the KPK," said Budi.
"This is for customs operations or for other matters. Well, this is a different matter than the vehicle that we confiscated when we searched the Directorate General of Customs and Excise office," he said.
As previously reported, the KPK announced six suspects related to alleged bribes and gratuities related to the import of goods at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise after conducting a hand-in-hand operation (OTT) on February 4.
