May 22 weather: Strong winds threaten Aceh and NTT, heavy rain floods West Java

JAKARTA - A number of areas in Indonesia are predicted to be hit by strong winds today, Friday, May 22. Light to heavy rain will also fall in various areas.

This condition has the potential to trigger local flooding and waterlogging in a number of areas.

Based on data from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the areas with early warning of strong winds are Aceh, Bangka Belitung Islands, Maluku, and East Nusa Tenggara.

For areas that are potentially hit by moderate to heavy rain, including North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Riau Islands, Jambi, South Sumatra, Bengkulu, Lampung, Banten, Jakarta, Central Java, Special Region of Yogyakarta, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, and South Kalimantan.

Moderate to heavy rain will also hit the areas of West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, North Maluku, West Papua, West Papua, Central Papua, Papua Mountains, and Papua.

Meanwhile, heavy to very heavy rainfall is potentially occurring in the Bangka Belitung Islands, West Java, West Kalimantan, and Maluku.
