JAKARTA - The Indonesian Survey Institute (ASI) has released the results of a national survey regarding potential presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election. As a result, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto remains the most superior, followed by Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo and DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

"If the presidential election were to be held at this time, Prabowo Subianto had 12.5 percent, Ganjar Pranowo 11.3 percent, Anies Baswedan 9.3 percent," said Executive Director of the Indonesian Survey Flow (ASI) Ali Rif'an during a presentation in a discussion themed 'Capres- Potential Vice President 2024: Public Perception of the Figure Cluster online, Tuesday, 8 June.

Meanwhile, Sandiaga Uno had 8.3 percent, AHY 6.4 percent, Ridwan Kamil 5.9 percent, and Khofifah Indar Parawansa 3.9 percent.

"These are the seven figures with the highest electability," continued Ali.

Then, he continued, if the elections were held at this time, the PDI-P would still win with 19.6 percent, the Gerindra parties with 14.9 percent, the three Golkar parties with 10.4 percent.

Followed by PKB 9.7 percent, Democrats 7.9 percent, NasDem 6.7 percent, and PKS 5.2 percent.

"And this is a party that is in the top seven and gets the highest electability rate," said Ali.

ASI also compiles a survey for the figures from the party leadership cluster who are most worthy to be presidential and vice presidential candidates in 2024. The results are still that Gerindra Chairman Prabowo Subianto leads with 14.0 percent, Democrat President Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono 13.2 percent, PKB chairman A. Muhaimin Iskandar 10, 2 percent

Followed by Golkar chairman Airlangga Hartarto 9.2 percent, PDIP chairman Puan Maharani 8.0 percent, NasDem chairman Surya Paloh 7.7 percent, PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu 6.7 percent, PPP chairman Suharso Monoarfa 3.5 percent and PAN chairman Zulkifli Hasan 3.5 percent.

"The remaining 24.0 percent said they didn't know/didn't answer," said Ali.

For the figures from the cluster of regional heads who are most worthy to be presidential and vice presidential candidates in 2024, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo leads with 21.4 percent, followed by Anies Baswedan with 19.9 percent, and Ridwan Kamil with 10.4 percent.

"These are the top three regional heads that the people choose the most," he said.

While the rest, East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa 10.2 percent, North Sumatra Governor Edy Rahmayadi 7.9 percent, Maluku Governor Murad Ismail 3.0 percent, West Nusa Tenggara Governor Zulkifliemansyah 2.5 percent, Bali Governor I Wayan Koster 2.5 percent, East Kalimantan Governor Isran Noor 2.3 percent, Banten Governor Wahidin Halim 1.3 percent and West Kalimantan Governor Sutarmidji 1.0 percent. The remaining 17.6 percent said they did not know/didn't answer.

The findings of this national survey conclude that regarding the 2024 presidential election contestation, there is no figure with dominant and exponential electability. Ali said that almost all of the current electability figures are still below 15 percent. Meanwhile, at the same time, there were 22.2 percent of undecided voters.

"This means that most people have a tendency to wait for new figures to emerge or it can also be interpreted that some people are not too focused on thinking about the presidential election," he said.

Because the position of the presidential candidate is not yet dominant, said Ali, so every child of the nation who has a qualified track record, capacity and proven integrity has the same opportunity to advance.

"Of course, with a record of getting party support because in the presidential election contestation, the party is the only vehicle and instrument for someone to run for president or vice president," said Ali.

Ali added that the findings of this national survey, especially the findings of potential 2024 presidential candidates based on the cluster of figures, can be a "menu list" for political parties to see who are the best sons and daughters of the nation with the best level of public acceptance.

"This is important as a political party's capital to attract figures to be promoted, either through the party convention mechanism or other mechanisms," said Ali.

The survey was conducted on 1 - 7 May 2021 in 34 provinces in Indonesia by means of a telesurvey, in which respondents were interviewed via telephone contact using a questionnaire.

Sampling method is Multistage Random Sampling. The number of respondents is 1000 respondents with a margin of error of approximately 3.1 percent at the 95 percent confidence level.
