Muhammadiyah condemns all forms of violence, including the kidnapping of journalists by the Israeli army against the humanitarian mission of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 to Gaza, Palestine.
"Muhammadiyah has always condemned any form of intervention using violence or political violence," said Muhammadiyah Central Leadership (PP) Chairman Haedar Nashir, in Yogyakarta, Tuesday, May 19, reported by ANTARA.
According to him, violent politics will only end up harming all parties, including the current case, namely three Indonesian journalists and activists who were arrested by the Israeli Navy while on a humanitarian mission to Gaza, Palestine.
"They don't have any political interests," he said.
He hopes that Israel will not act immediately blindly in dealing with affairs in Palestine, including taking arbitrary actions against the people of Gaza and all parties in charge of peace and humanitarian missions.
Haedar also emphasized that the UN must take action against Israel's actions.
"The UN must act if I think so," said Haedar.
"At the global level, the community is facing a major challenge, namely conflicts or wars that are the choice of some superpowers.
Haedar assessed that the condition showed the loss of a modern philosophy of life that upholds humanity.
"It even became a dead end for modernity, because after World War I and II we should not have any more wars," he said.
The United Nations, continued Haedar, as a forum for the unity of nations in the world should pioneer peace without war which in the end causes global chaos.
He hopes that the nations of the world will continue to call for an end to the war, although it is admittedly quite difficult to make it happen.
"It's hard to stop (the war) because the culprit is the one who has dominance in the UN, has a veto, and is a superpower," said Haedar.
The Israeli military intercepted a number of ships on the Global Sumud Flotilla humanitarian mission and kidnapped activists, including three journalists from Indonesia, during a voyage to Gaza, Palestine.
