TNI Member who Shot TNI Soldier for Senggolan in Palembang Still Under Intensive Investigation

JAKARTA - Military Police Kodam (Pomdam) II/Sriwijayamenangkap suspected perpetrators of the shooting that killed an TNI AD soldier at Pan Head Cafe, Jalan Letjen H Alamsyah Ratu Prawiranegara, Bukit Baru, West Ilir District I, Palembang.

The head of the Kodam II/Sriwijaya Navy, Lt. Col. Inf. Yordania, said the victim in the incident was Ferischal Alfarizky Abelsa, a soldier from the Denkesyah Palembang Kesdam II/Swj who died from gunshot wounds.

Within 1x24 hours of the incident, his party arrested the perpetrators and in this case there were two suspects who were appointed, namely Sertu MRN and a civilian with the initials DS.

"The suspect Sertu MRN was arrested while he was in the parking area of Bhayangkara Hospital. The perpetrator and the witnesses are currently being held at Madenpom II/4 in a safe state for further examination," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 18.

He explained that the incident began when the victim and the suspect were at the nightclub at around 02.30 WIB. At that time, there was a quarrel between the victim and the perpetrator which was triggered by personal issues until it ended in a fight.

In a desperate state, Sertu MRR allegedly fired a homemade firearm of the matchlock type and fired a shot that hit the victim's body.

The victim was rushed to Permata Palembang Hospital for medical treatment. However, the victim was declared dead at 03.45 WIB by the duty doctor.

After the incident, Denpom II/4 Palembang immediately conducted an investigation of the crime scene, examined 21 witnesses, secured CCTV footage and coordinated with Bhayangkara Hospital Palembang for an autopsy.

"The autopsy results show that the victim died from a gunshot wound to the lower right abdomen that penetrated vital organs, causing heavy bleeding," he said.

The bullet projectile has been successfully removed from the victim's body and is currently awaiting the results of ballistic tests from Bidlabfor Polda Sumsel.

The homemade firearm allegedly used by the perpetrator was found at DS's house in the Srimulya Village area, Sematang Borang District, Palembang, Saturday (16/5) evening at around 20.15 WIB.

Currently, the perpetrator and a number of witnesses are still being held at Madenpom II/4 Palembang to undergo further examination.

Pangdam II/Sriwijaya has ordered the relevant parties to handle the case thoroughly until it is completed.

The case against Sertu MRN will soon enter the investigation stage before being referred to Military Audit I-05 Palembang, while the DS case will be referred to Polrestabes Palembang.

Kodam II/Sriwijaya emphasized its commitment to take firm action against any violations of the law committed by soldiers in accordance with applicable procedures and to ensure openness of information to the public.

The body of the late Pratu Ferischal Alfarizky Abelsa was buried in a military manner at the Sematang Borang TPU, Palembang, Saturday (16/5) afternoon.
