JAKARTA - Minister of Empowerment of Women and Child Protection (PPPA) Arifah Fauzi encourages women to become agents of change in the digital world so that a healthy, safe, and inclusive digital space can be created.
"RA Kartini is a brave figure in speaking, thinking critically, and fighting for humanity in the midst of limited access to education at that time. However, our current challenges are different, namely the presence of technology that moves very fast and unlimited. Therefore, we must move together to ensure that women are not only users, but also creators and agents of change in the digital world," said Minister of PPPA Arifah Fauzi in a statement in Jakarta, Thursday, as reported by Antara.
He said this during the Full Moon Gathering activity with the theme "Bringing Kartini to Life in the Digital Era" at the Makara Art Center, University of Indonesia, Depok, West Java.
He believes that the spirit of RA Kartini's struggle must be maintained in answering the various challenges of the digital era.
This effort is important considering that behind the great opportunities for technological progress, violence in new forms occurs, such as Online Gender-Based Violence (KBGO), harassment on social media, dissemination of intimate content without consent, cyber bullying, to digital exploitation of women and children.
Minister Arifah Fauzi invited all elements of society to ensure that the light of the struggle that Kartini had lit remained alive in digital spaces.
According to him, technology must be used positively as a process in working, having a family, interacting, and forming a strong identity.
"RAKartini lit the light a century ago. Our task now is to ensure that the light remains alive and lit in the digital space. Let's together make technology a tool to bring positive change for the advancement of Indonesian women," said Minister of PPPAArifatul Choiri Fauzi.
He added that the Ministry of PPPA through every program and policy does not stop encouraging all parties, including families, educational institutions, communities, and digital system organizers to jointly create a safe and inclusive digital space for women and children.
