JAKARTA - The Directorate General (Ditjen) of Immigration, Ministry of Immigration and Correction has managed to identify the sponsors (guarantors) responsible for the presence of 320 foreign nationals (WNA) suspected of international online gambling (judol) syndicates in the Hayam Wuruk area, West Jakarta.

Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko said that there were 15 sponsors who were identified as responsible for bringing hundreds of foreign nationals who were judol perpetrators.

"There are 15 guarantors or sponsors who are responsible for the presence of foreign nationals in Indonesia," Hendarsam said in a statement in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, May 13.

The Directorate General of Immigration is currently investigating alleged immigration crimes committed by 320 foreign nationals suspected of international judol syndicates through joint investigations (joint investigations) with the National Police.

The investigation was carried out since the 320 foreigners were transferred to the Jakarta Immigration Detention House (Rudenim) and the Directorate General of Immigration on Sunday (10/5).

Hendarsam emphasized that in processing suspected criminal acts, the Immigration Directorate General not only targets foreign individuals, but also conducts in-depth examinations of sponsors or guarantors.

Immigration is also entitled to process the law if both foreigners and sponsors have indications of involvement in criminal acts.

"As regulated in the Immigration Law, our investigators (PPNS) also have the authority to process the law on alleged immigration offenses committed by foreigners or their sponsors," said Hendarsam.

Previously, on Saturday (9/5), the National Police arrested 321 people related to international online gambling (judol) crimes.

Then, on Sunday, the National Police announced that the 320 people involved in online gambling were foreign nationals (WNA) and their detention was entrusted to the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Immigration and Correction (Kemenimipas).

The 320 foreign nationals arrested consisted of 228 Vietnamese citizens, China (57), Myanmar (13), Laos (11), Thailand (5), Malaysia (3), and Cambodia (3). Meanwhile, another one is an Indonesian citizen and is further processed at the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police.
