JAKARTA - The general chairman of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto, is getting stronger in a survey conducted by Indonesia Elections and Strategic (IndEX) Research. In the presidential candidate market, Prabowo's electability touched 18.5 percent.
In the next order there are the names of Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo 16.7 percent and West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil 13.4 percent.
"Prabowo, Ganjar, and RK are getting stronger in the presidential candidate market, far behind a number of other popular names," said IndEX Research researcher Hendri Kurniawan in a press release as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, June 8.
IndEX Research has been conducting the survey since last year. The trend of the three figures shows their superiority. "Prabowo always wins. However, in the last two surveys, the graph continues to move downwards, the distance from Ganjar is getting thinner," said Hendri.
Meanwhile, Ganjar and RK fluctuated but both trended upwards.
However, the electability of the governors of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno, tends to decline. Anies' electability remains at 7.1 percent, followed by Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (6.7 percent) and Sandi (6.3 percent).
Other figures are Erick Thohir (4.8 percent), Tri Rismaharini (4.5 percent), Giring Ganesha (2.3 percent), and Khofifah Indar Parawansa (2.0 percent).
The names are Mahfud MD (1.5 percent), Puan Maharani (1.2 percent), Airlangga Hartarto (1.1 percent), and Susi Pudjiastuti (1.0 percent).
"If you look at the electability map in the past year, Prabowo, Ganjar, RK, and Anies have the opportunity to be promoted as presidential candidates, while figures, such as AHY, Sandiaga Uno, Erick Thohir, Puan, and Airlangga Hartarto deserve to be considered as vice presidential candidates," said Hendri.
The electability of Puan and Airlangga is indeed very low, but both are supported by the engines of the major political parties, namely PDIP and Golkar.
Meanwhile, the other names were still below 1 percent, and the rest did not know/didn't answer 11.3 percent.
The IndEX Research survey was conducted on 21-30 May 2021 on 1,200 people representing all provinces in Indonesia, conducted by telephone to randomly selected respondents from the previous survey since 2018. Margin of error ±2.9 percent at the 95% confidence level.
