Papua Police: 9 People Potentially Become Suspects in the Lukas Enembe Stadium Riot

JAKARTA - Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Cahyo Sukarnito, said that nine people were potential suspects of the riots after Persipura lost 0-1 to Adyaksa FC at the Lukas Enembe Stadium, Jayapura Regency, Friday (8/5) evening.

The nine people are suspected of throwing objects at officers, persecution, vehicle destruction, and looting.

"Investigators are currently still continuing to develop through the collection of video footage, profiling perpetrators, examining witnesses and suspected perpetrators, and coordinating with the public prosecutor to complete the investigation process," said Cahyo as reported by ANTARA, Monday, May 11.

Previously, said Cahyo, there were 32 people who were secured in connection with the riots after the Liga 2 competition layoff.

In addition, investigators have also received 28 police reports related to various criminal acts that occurred in the incident.

"There were 28 police reports received regarding cases of theft of motor vehicles, vehicle burning, vandalism, to beatings," said Cahyo.

From the data received by the Papua Police, there were 16 cases of motor vehicle theft, eight cases of vehicle burning, as well as cases of vandalism, beating and theft of mobile phones, each one case.
