BOGOR - The Chairman of the Bogor City DPRD, Adityawarman Adil, emphasized the importance of listening skills as the main foundation in building effective leadership.
This was conveyed by Adityawarman when he was a speaker in the Leadership, Management, and Effective Communication Training at the IPB Dramaga Campus, Sunday, May 10.
The activity entitled RESPECT H1 (Residential Empowerment and Character Training) was held in the Common Class Room (CCR) and was attended by students who were members of the Senior Resident program under the Academic and Multi-cultural Development Program of IPB University.
In his presentation, Adityawarman explained that communication is not only about the ability to speak, but also building trust through real interaction.
He highlighted a number of important aspects of leadership, ranging from effective communication, building trust, active listening skills, to collaboration and conflict resolution skills.
"Good leaders are born from the habit of listening before talking," said Adityawarman.
The man who is familiarly called Kang Adit considers the mastery of soft skills to be an important factor that determines the success of a person's career and the quality of social relationships in the future.
He also admitted to being impressed by the spirit of the Senior Residents who have the responsibility of nurturing lower-level students in the IPB dormitory environment.
According to him, the students have shown leadership since early age without having to wait for maturity.
"I am impressed that these participants are those who are trusted to nurture their peers. They do not wait for the old to lead. From now on they are already doing it," he said.
Adityawarman added that support from public figures and practitioners is needed to motivate young generations in developing character and leadership skills.
"Our task, who have been on this path, is to be present, share, and believe that this generation is capable. And we are proud to be part of the process," he concluded.
