Divhubinter Polri Ajukan Red Notice Ustaz SAM

JAKARTA - The International Relations Division (Divhubinter) of the National Police is processing an Interpol Red Notice (RNI) against Ustaz SAM (Syekh Ahmad Al Misry) who was previously named a suspect in the alleged sexual harassment case.

"It is in the process of submitting the red notice through the Interpol portal," said Head of the Transnational and International Crime Section (Kabagjatranin) of the Set NCB Interpol Indonesia Divhubinter Polri, Kombes Ricky Purnama, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, May 8.

He also revealed that SAM had the status of Indonesian citizen (WNI) through the naturalization channel.

"If the status of WNI has been validated and approved, through the naturalization channel with the proposal as a mixed marriage partner with an Indonesian woman," he said.

Currently, he continued, his party is validating the status of the suspect's Egyptian citizenship.

"We are also communicating with the Egyptian authorities to validate his citizenship status," he said.

Previously, the Directorate of Criminal Protection of Women and Children and Eradication of Human Trafficking (PPA and PPO) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police named Ustad SAM (Syekh Ahmad Al Misry) as a suspect in the alleged sexual harassment case.

Regarding the details related to the determination of the suspect, the police did not disclose further.

Ustaz SAM was reported to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police in November 2025 for the alleged sexual harassment of five male students.

The lawyer for the victims, Achmad Cholidin, said the alleged actions of SAM had traumatized his victims. Moreover, there was an alleged intimidation of the victims by SAM or his representatives to withdraw the case from the police until there was an alleged attempt to bribe the victims.

"There are threats, even the victims in Egypt are not allowed to open this case at all. There are also attempts to provide funds so that this does not continue, both by the suspect or his emissaries," he said.

Meanwhile, Ustaz Abi Makki as a witness said that in 2021, SAM had allegedly harassed his followers.

At that time, the victims along with the santri teachers and religious figures carried out a tabayyun until SAM finally apologized and promised not to commit acts of alleged sexual harassment of the same sex.

However, instead of repenting, in 2025, the teachers were recognized by their SAM santrinya to do the same thing again.

In the end, a report was made to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police about the alleged harassment carried out by SAM against its members.

Meanwhile, on April 2, 2026, Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives held a closed meeting with the police, the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), and representatives of the victims' families to discuss the case.

After the meeting, the Director of PPA-PPO of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Brigjen Pol. Nurul Azizah said there were several crime scenes (TKP) in this case.

"So, some of the places where it happened were at the crime scene, there were in Purbalingga, there were in Sukabumi, there were in Jakarta, there were in Bandung, and in Egypt," he said.

He also confirmed that SAM had the status of WNI.
