JAKARTA - The East Jakarta City Government (Pemkot) has started to organize the area under the Pasar Rebo flyover, Susukan Village, Ciracas District, into a container and public space to prevent fights among teenagers.
"The area will later be equipped with a boxing arena which is expected to be a place for children and teenagers to channel their talents and energy in a positive direction rather than fighting," said East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin in Jakarta, Thursday.
According to him, this boxing hall can become a more organized public space as well as a means of positive activity for the community, especially among teenagers.
The arrangement was made ahead of the planned inauguration of the boxing arena and skateboard (skateboard) which is scheduled for May 12.
Meanwhile, the Head of Ciracas Sub-district, Panangaran Ritonga, said that the arrangement of the area was a direct order from the Mayor of East Jakarta so that the area under the "flyover" of Pasar Rebo would be more neat, comfortable, and suitable for use by the community.
"First, the Mayor asked us to clean up the area around the underpass of the Rebo Market, which is in the Susukan Village area, Ciracas District," said Ritonga.
In addition to the boxing arena, there are also skate board facilities at the same location that can be used by the community.
"There are boxing activities, boxing rings, which hopefully will be inaugurated directly by the Governor. We certainly want to welcome his presence with a more neat and appropriate regional condition," he said.
He explained that the arrangement process was carried out by repainting a number of facilities and areas around because the previous condition looked dull due to dust and paint that had faded.
"The condition is indeed due to dust, old paint has also faded, so we are re-painting it to make it cleaner and more attractive," said Ritonga.
He hopes that the existence of the boxing hall can be a solution to reduce fights that often involve teenagers. Sports facilities like this can also be a positive venue to direct the energy of young people.
"Instead of fighting, it's better to channel their energy in the sports arena. So this area becomes a public space for the community to enjoy the facilities while channeling their hobbies and talents," he explained.
The regional government, he said, will also form an official management to ensure that the management of the facility runs well and sustainably.
Later, the management of the arena will not be carried out freely without rules, but there are parties that regulate the schedule of use, training activities to matches.
"We will strengthen its management so that the sustainability of the management of these facilities and infrastructure is more secure. So not anyone is free to play, but there are managers who regulate the schedule for competitions and sports," said Ritonga.
In its management, the sub-district will involve regional elements such as RT, RW, and LMK as supervisors. Meanwhile, the main responsible party is at the village level.
Each sports branch will have a representative of the manager so that all activities remain coordinated with the surrounding environment, including if there is an agenda that requires a crowd permit from the police.
"We hope that this boxing and skateboarding facility can benefit the community. Hopefully, athletes will emerge who can reach the national and even international level and bring glory to Indonesia," said Ritonga.
In addition to being a means of sports training, the government also hopes that the area under the "flyover" of Pasar Rebo will remain clean and beautiful so that it has a positive impact on the surrounding environment.
