JAKARTA - Investigators from the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police (Polda NTB) have strengthened evidence of state financial losses in a case of alleged corruption in the form of illegal levies and extortion against teachers receiving Special Regional Allowance for Remote Areas (TKDT) in Bima Regency.
"The development is that we are still in the stage of completing the loss data," said the Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the NTB Police, Kombes Pol. Fx. Endriadi in Mataram, Monday, quoted by Antara.
He explained that investigators also coordinated with the NTB High Prosecutor's Office in line with the handling of cases which had entered the stage of investigation by the investigating prosecutor.
"This is the stage of the finalization, and the investigators are waiting for P-21 (the file is declared complete by the investigating prosecutor)," he said.
In the case of alleged corruption in the distribution of TKDT for the period 2019-2025, the NTB Police have named one female suspect with the initials IR, who carried out illegal levies and extortion while serving as Head of the Education and Education Department (PTK) at the Education, Culture, and Sports Office (Dikbudpora) Bima Regency.
During the investigation, the police have carried out a search at the Bima Education and Culture Office and seized a number of documents as evidence.
Endriadi said that dozens of documents from the seizure were currently being examined, which were suspected of being related to the illegal collection practices carried out by the suspects.
In addition, investigators have also examined 24 witnesses from the teachers who received the TKDT.
From the witness's statement, it was revealed that the alleged transfer of money to the suspect was made under pressure, because he was afraid that the allowance would not be disbursed in the next stage.
The alleged extortion targeted elementary school (SD) teachers who received TKDT in Tambora District, Bima Regency.
Previously, the Head of the Corruption Crime Sub Directorate of the NTB Police's Criminal Investigation Unit, AKBP Muhaemin, said investigators had found a malicious intent or mensrea from the suspect.
"The suspect prepared two special accounts to receive deposits from teachers receiving remote area allowances," he said.
The investigator, he continued, is still developing the case to trace the possibility of other parties who also enjoy the proceeds of the illegal levies through the tracing of the funds belonging to the suspects.
