JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto has signed Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 27 of 2026 to reduce the income deduction taken by the application company from online motorcycle taxi drivers to eight percent.

"I say here, I don't agree with 10 percent, it must be below 10 percent," said President Prabowo in his speech at the International Labor Day commemoration at the National Monument, Jakarta, Friday, May 1.

The President emphasized that this policy was taken to defend the rights of online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) who work hard every day and risk their lives on the streets. According to him, the revenue sharing scheme that has been in place has still not provided justice for drivers.

Prabowo said that previously the app developers asked for a deposit or a cut of 20 percent of the driver's income. Through this new rule, the government has set a new standard that is much lower to increase the net income of online transportation workers.

"Enakaje, he can sweat money, sorry. If you don't want to join us, don't bother in Indonesia," said President Prabowo in front of thousands of workers.

Presidential Regulation Number 27 of 2026 concerning the Protection of Online Transportation Workers changes the income previously obtained by drivers of around 80 percent after the application's deduction, now the rules require a minimum of 92 percent for drivers or a maximum of eight percent deduction for application providers.

The government also requires applicator companies to provide social security protection for their partners. The President emphasized that occupational health and safety must be a top priority given the high risks of their work.

"Workers must be given accident insurance, they will be given BPJS Kesehatan, health insurance," the President emphasized.
