Iran Says US Blockade Will Fail, Threatens Confrontation

JAKARTA - The senior military adviser to Iran's supreme leader said the US blockade of Iranian ports "will fail," warning Tehran could choose confrontation if the move continued.

In a statement broadcast on state television on Thursday, April 30, Mohsen Rezaei said Iran had various ways to break through the blockade, and stressed that efforts to implement the blockade would not succeed.

According to him, if the blockade continues, Iran may use confrontation to break it.

As reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Rezaei also outlined the possible scenario if another war occurred, according to him it would focus on the southern coastal area, extending to Isfahan, and include some activities in the western part of the country.

He warned such a conflict could include bombings and assassinations in Tehran.

The US and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran on February 28, which Tehran responded to with attacks on Israel and other countries in the region hosting US assets.

US-Israeli airstrikes killed more than 3,300 people before Washington and Tehran announced a two-week ceasefire on April 8 brokered by Pakistan.

Although originally scheduled to end on April 22, US President Donald Trump announced an indefinite extension of the ceasefire on April 21 at the request of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief of Staff Asim Munir.
