BKKBN Promotes National Daycare Reform and Strengthens TAMASYA Program after the Incident in Yogyakarta

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Population and Family Development / BKKBN has responded seriously to the case of child abuse that occurred at one of the daycare centers in Yogyakarta. This incident is a crucial momentum for the government to accelerate the reform of the national child care system to ensure the safety and growth of Indonesian children.

Although expressing deep concern, the government emphasized that this case does not reflect the quality of all childcare services in Indonesia. In fact, the discovery of this case proves that the function of supervision and law enforcement is effective.

TAMASYA Program: Holistic Parenting Solution

As a strategic step, BKKBN continues to echo the TAMASYA (Child Care Garden) program. This program is designed with a holistic approach that not only focuses on childcare, but also includes:

Health and Nutrition: Ensuring balanced nutrition intake for children. Stimulating Growth and Development: Providing age-appropriate educational stimulation. Community-based: Integrating the role of family and surrounding environment.

Steps to Accelerate Daycare Reform

Responding to the existence of daycare centers that have not obtained operational permits, the government sees this as an opportunity to carry out administrative improvements. The main focus going forward is data integration and permit simplification so that all childcare institutions can be closely monitored.

The following are the four main pillars of strengthening daycare services carried out by the government:

National Standards: The preparation of standardized early childhood care that is uniform. Capacity Improvement: Intensive training for caregivers to be more competent and empathetic. Cross-Sectoral Coordination: Strengthening cooperation between central ministries and local governments. Affordable Access: Expanding the availability of safe daycare services that are still pocket-friendly for the community.

More Strict Supervision and Reporting System

In the future, BKKBN together with related ministries/institutions will intensify periodic inspections and strengthen the community reporting system. The public is encouraged to be more proactive in reporting irregularities in childcare services through responsive and protected channels.

With the strengthening of this system, it is hoped that parents will feel more calm in entrusting their children, while children get the best protection and care rights for the future of the nation.
