Metro Police Chief and Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament Speak Out on Train Accident at Bekasi Timur Station

JAKARTA - Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri said his party was still conducting investigations and deepening related to the accident between the Commuter Line Train and the Disel Train (KRD) at the Bekasi Timur Station, Bekasi City, Monday (27/4) evening.

"For the chronology, we are still conducting investigations and deepening because the incident was only an hour ago," said Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, quoting ANTARA.

He also explained that the main thing at this time was that his party was helping and handling the victims.

"Currently, Basarnas, TNI-Polri, and SAR are still evacuating, pray that the victims can be brought to the hospital soon," he said.

Asep also said that at this time, the main thing besides providing assistance to the victims is to secure the crime scene, while in terms of the number of victims is still fluctuating.

"Hopefully it won't increase, even though it is still in the process of evacuation," he said.

A total of 29 passengers were injured and were rushed to hospital, while three victims were declared dead in the provisional data.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Sufmi Dasco confirmed that the data was obtained when checking the evacuation process directly at the location.

"I don't know exactly because I'm still digging into how many exactly. But the obstacle from the evacuation is because the passengers are in a state of being stuck and then the gap for the evacuation room is narrow," he said.

Dasco ensured that the evacuation process went smoothly and that the current condition of the incident location was sterile.

"I see officers from the police and SAR and TNI-Polri working compactly at the location," he said.

Meanwhile, based on official information from PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), the victims were referred to several nearby health facilities, including the Bekasi Regional Hospital, Primaya Hospital Bekasi Timur, Mitra Plumbon Cibitung, and RSU Bella Bekasi.
