SUMBAR - The West Pasaman Regency Government, West Sumatra, plans to accelerate the construction of an alternative road to Talamau District. This is done after a lot of damage on the main road due to natural disasters late 2025.

"The budget is included in the regional transfer budget (TKD) due to natural disasters," said West Pasaman Regent Yulianto in Simpang Empat, Sunday.

According to him, the alternative roads prepared were the MAN Kajai-Simpang Timbo Abu Road, Talamau District and the improvement of the Jembatan Panjang-Bangkok Road, Talamau District.

"This road is important for Talamau District because the main road which is a provincial road has been blocked and is very dangerous for drivers," he said.

His party has prepared a budget for the improvement of the alternative road because the current condition is still a dirt road and difficult to be traveled by vehicles in general.

"We hope that later through the provincial budget, the road to Talamau can be built properly," he hoped.

Acting Head of the West Pasaman Public Works and Spatial Planning Service Bambang Sumarsono also ensured that the road would be built in 2026.

The road is the Simpang MAN 1 Kajai road along six kilometers which goes through the Long Bridge because the road in the crime-prone area is prone to landslides.

"Every time it rains heavily, the road in that location often landslides," he said.

Then the second road is near the Long Bridge to Bangkok Talu along eight kilometers. This road will be improved because half of the asphalt road in Polong Anam has been banned and is feared to be broken.

He said the existence of the two alternative roads was very important as an emergency route to restore inter-regional connectivity, facilitate community economic activities, and ensure the safety of residents during disasters.
