KARAWANG - Karawang Police Satlantas officers managed to arrest a person suspected of being a drug dealer of methamphetamine. He was caught during a traffic raid when he was not wearing a helmet around Ciplaz Roundabout, Karawang Regency, West Java.

The Public Relations Officer of the Karawang Police, Ipda Cep Wildan, in his statement in Karawang, Sunday, said that initially the police from the Karawang Police Traffic Unit were tasked with regulating traffic flow and stopping motorcycle riders for not wearing helmets.

Traffic flow was quite heavy on the Ahmad Yani Karawang road section to the Ciplaz roundabout on Saturday afternoon (25/5), so officers from the Karawang Police Traffic Unit carried out traffic flow arrangements.

"Yes, at that time the officer stopped a motorcyclist because he was not wearing a helmet. But when the examination was carried out, the rider's movements were very suspicious," he said, quoting ANTARA, April 26.

The suspicious officer then searched the body of the motorcyclist with the initials BA (22), resident of Kutawaluya AH (21) resident of Pedes District.

As a result of the search, the police actually found six packets of methamphetamine hidden in the pocket of the perpetrator's pants. Not stopping there, officers immediately conducted an initial interrogation on the spot.

"Based on the perpetrator's confession, he has spread 10 packets of methamphetamine in several places, and still has 10 other packets in his residence," he said.

Overall, the police managed to identify a total of 26 packages of methamphetamine from the hands and networks of the perpetrators.

Upon finding the findings, the personnel in the field immediately coordinated with the Karawang Police Control Officer to secure the perpetrator and the evidence.

Currently, the suspected drug dealer has been handed over by the Turjawali Satlantas Operations Unit to the Karawang Police Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satresnarkoba) for further development to uncover the network above it.

"This step is a form of readiness of members in the field. We are not only focused on traffic order, but also committed to eradicating all forms of criminal acts, including drug trafficking," he said.
