COVID-19 Cases In Bangkalan Soar High, 83 Riders Passing In Suramadu Are Tested Positive

SURABAYA - The Surabaya City COVID-19 Task Force Team continues to conduct mass insulation and swab tests on the Suramadu Bridge, from Bangkalan to Surabaya and vice versa. As a result, tens of thousands of motorists passing through Suramadu were found to be positive for COVID-19.

"Today, the number of riders in Suramadu who are positive for COVID-19 is 83 people", said the Head of the Surabaya Tanjung Perak Port Police, Commissioner Ganis Setyaningrum confirmed, Monday, June 7.

On Sunday, June 6, continued Ganis, there were 70 positive riders. They were found to be positive for the coronavirus after undergoing a swab test at the Suramadu isolation post on the Surabaya side. Meanwhile, until 11.00 a.m. local time, as many as 793 drivers were tested for a mass swab. Nine of them were positive.

"This examination is a continuation of yesterday's activity. Those who tested positive were immediately taken to several hospitals, such as the field hospital, Haji Sukolilo Hospital, Mitra Hospital, and Unair Hospital", he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the readiness of the swab test kit, Ganis emphasized that its availability is not limited. This is one of the efforts of the Surabaya City COVID-19 Task Force to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the City of Heroes.

"The examination is carried out for 24 hours, divided into three shifts", he said.

According to Ganis, the isolation in Suramadu will be carried out until the situation for the spread of COVID-19 has softened. All vehicles with M number license plates and other license plates from Madura to Surabaya passing through Suramadu will be inspected and undergo a swab test.

"Suramadu will not be closed, but strict isolation until the situation is gentle. Waiting for orders from the leadership", said Ganis.
