Police Process ICW Complaints Regarding Firli Bahuri

JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police has processed the return of the Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) report on the alleged gratuity with the reported head of the KPK (Corruption Eradication Commission), Firli Bahuri.

The refund was made because the issue of the alleged gratification had already been handled by the KPK Supervisory Board.

"It has been processed (return of documents)", said Head of Public Information Bureau of the Public Relations Division of the Police Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono to reporters, Monday, June 7.

"The consideration is that the Criminal Investigation Agency considers that what was reported was processed internally", he continued.

However, when asked about ICW's complaint with a criminal element, Rusdi said that because of this element, the report must be investigated.

"Once again, we all uphold the presumption of innocence, if all kinds of things are reported, there needs to be an investigation, whether or not there is a crime against the reports submitted, so further investigation is needed," he said.

Previously, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Komjen Agus Andriyanto, said that he would submit the ICW complaint documents to the KPK Supervisory Board. Police, said Agus, did not want to be involved in the matter.

"We'll just return it to the Council. It's been handled (in the ethics trial)", said Komjen Agus when confirmed, Friday, June 4.

In addition, Agus said that currently, the National Police will focus on preventing the spread of COVID-19. Then, help the economic recovery which continues to decline during the pandemic.

"Don't pull the Police. Right now we are focusing on handling health impacts and recovering the national economy and investment", said Agus.
