President Prabowo's target of 17 Gigawatt of PLTS to be built by 2026

Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto has encouraged the acceleration of the realization of a 100 gigawatt solar power plant (PLTS) program.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto to reporters at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, April 21. Brian conveyed that the President specifically asked that the implementation of the program be accelerated, especially in replacing diesel-based power plants.

According to him, the government this year is optimistically targeting the achievement of an additional 17 gigawatt of renewable energy through PLTS on a national scale. The target includes the addition of PLTS capacity as well as the reduction of diesel power plants (PLTD).

The calculation will be carried out together with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, PLN, Danantara, and several experts. Regarding the technical implementation and determination of the location of the PLTS construction, Brian said that it would be carried out by PLN as the main implementer of the program.

With this acceleration, Indonesia is not only pursuing capacity targets, but also affirming its position as a key player in the transformation of clean energy in the region.
