BOGOR - IPB University confirms its commitment to strengthening the handling and prevention of sexual harassment cases through a participatory approach involving students, to create a safe and inclusive campus environment.

The commitment was conveyed by the Rector of IPB University, Dr. Alim Setiawan Slamet, in an open dialogue with students held at the Andi Hakim Nasution Auditorium, IPB Dramaga Campus, Friday, April 17.

"We do not tolerate any form of sexual violence. IPB is committed to ensuring that every process of handling is transparent, accountable, and on the side of the victim," said Alim in his statement, Monday, April 21.

He emphasized that the handling of cases does not only focus on enforcing rules, but also prioritizes a dialogic approach as part of a comprehensive and just settlement effort.

The dialogue was attended by hundreds of students and was part of a series of communications that had previously been carried out between the campus and student representatives. This forum aims to open a space for participation as well as strengthen transparency in the case handling process.

Director of Cooperation, Communication, and Marketing of IPB University, Alfian Helmi, said the involvement of students is an important element in maintaining institutional accountability.

"The involvement of students is carried out through coordination with student organizations and representatives so that the process is open, fair, and maintains public trust," he said.

He added, the campus ensures that every report is handled professionally by upholding the principles of confidentiality, victim protection, and justice for all parties. Strengthening the handling unit and mechanism is also being carried out to ensure a quick and sensitive response to victims.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the IPB University Student Executive Board (BEM), Muhammad Abdan Rofi, appreciated the openness of the campus in facilitating direct dialogue with the leadership.

"The points we have conveyed, ranging from regulations to technical procedures, have been discussed and agreed upon together. This is an important step for future improvements," he said.

Abdan emphasized the importance of collaboration between students and institutions in creating a safe campus space.

"We want to be part of the co-creator in building a safe and inclusive environment, as well as overseeing the implementation of agreed policies," he said.

IPB University hopes that this participatory approach can strengthen public confidence while ensuring that the campus is a safe, comfortable, and dignified space for all academicians.
