JAKARTA - The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has prepared a contingency scheme or emergency handling for Hajj officers who begin their departure to the Holy Land in the 1447 Hijriah/2026 Masehi Hajj season amid the Middle East conflict.
Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak said the scheme was an important part of ensuring the safety and comfort of pilgrims while in Saudi Arabia.
"What is clear is that the Hajj officers will be prepared for contingency schemes, which means emergency schemes," said Dahnil at the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory, Jakarta, quoted by Antara Friday, April 17.
He explained that the initial wave of officers who were sent out was dominated by the jamaah protection team (linjam). This team will be the front line in carrying out security functions as well as a quick response if an emergency situation occurs.
The composition of the linjam team comes from various elements, including the TNI and the National Police. In addition, there are also support officers, airport officers, and journalists who are also on duty in this year's Hajj operations.
"Most of those who left first were the linjam team, consisting of the TNI, Polri, then there were friends journalists and airport officers," said Dahnil.
According to him, the presence of the team is crucial in supporting the implementation of contingency plans in the field, especially to anticipate various possibilities that could disrupt the course of the hajj.
The government ensures that all officers have been equipped with training and briefing before being deployed so that they can carry out their duties optimally.
As many as 400 Hajj officers are scheduled to depart starting Friday (17/4) as a team of predecessors. They will serve in the Madinah Working Area (Daker) and the Airport to ensure the readiness of services for pilgrims.
Meanwhile, the first group of prospective pilgrims (kloter) is scheduled to be dispatched on April 22, 2026.
