Iran Threatens to Return to US Blocking the Strait of Hormuz: Red Sea-Gulf of Oman Route to be Closed

JAKARTA - The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters (KCHQ), the joint military command of the Iranian Armed Forces, warned of the long-term consequences that US President Donald Trump must bear for ordering his military to blockade the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran's military has warned it will block trade through the Red Sea, Persian Gulf and Sea or Gulf of Oman, if a US naval blockade continues in the Strait of Hormuz.

"Our armed forces will not allow trade to flow through the Red Sea if the naval blockade continues. We will not allow any exports or imports in the Gulf and the Sea of Oman if the American blockade continues," said KCHQ Commander Ali Abdollahi, broadcast by Iranian Government television, quoted from Times Of Israel, Wednesday, April 15.

The US navy blocked all ships heading to and from Iranian ports in the Gulf region. The operation also involved US guided missile destroyers.

On that occasion, Ali Abdollahi also emphasized that if the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz continued, the US had violated the ceasefire.

"This will be the beginning of a ceasefire violation," he said.
