Kemenimipas Checks the Entire Rutan Chain after Viral Corruption Arrest at a Coffee Shop in Kendari

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Immigration and Correction (Kemenimipas) took firm steps following the viral case of a prisoner in a corruption case with the initials S who was caught stopping by a coffee shop in Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi, after undergoing a review trial (PK).

The Deputy Director of Cooperation of the Ministry of Corrections, Rika Aprianti, said that the Minister of Imipas, Agus Andrianto, had ordered a thorough investigation of all parties involved.

"According to the instructions of the Minister, an inspection will be carried out starting from the head of the prison, the head of prison security to the officers who escorted the incident in question," said Rika in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, April 15.

He explained that the current examination is still ongoing by the joint team of the Internal Compliance Operational Unit (Sat Ops Patnal) of the Directorate General of Corrections together with the Regional Office of the Southeast Sulawesi Directorate General of Corrections.

The examination not only targets the escort officers, but also the head of the detention center, the head of security, to the inmates concerned to determine the extent to which the violation of procedures occurred.

Kemenimipas emphasized that if it is proven that there has been a violation, the sanctions imposed can be very heavy, ranging from disciplinary punishment to removal from office.

"If it is proven to be in violation, it will be dealt with according to the applicable rules, up to the removal of the post," he said.

Previously, a video of a prisoner in the North Kolaka mining corruption case with the initials S went viral on social media when he was seen stopping by a coffee shop in Kendari with the escort of a prison officer.

It was later found out that the person concerned had officially left to attend the PK hearing at the Kendari District Court. However, after the trial was over, the prisoner was said to have been invited to stop by a coffee shop by his former subordinates from the syahbandar element, and the escort officers did not prevent it.

As a result of the initial findings, the escort officers had previously been sanctioned and withdrawn to the South Sulawesi Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs for further examination.
