BATANG - A fatal accident occurred on the Pantura section of Tulis District, Batang Regency, Central Java, Sunday afternoon.

The motorcycle with the plate G-6497 FV hit the back of the D-9806-AG tronton truck which was stopped on the shoulder of the road. This incident killed two people at the scene.

The Head of the Batang Police, AKBP Veronika, said the police were still investigating to determine the exact cause of the accident, while the two victims had been evacuated to the Kalisari Hospital.

"The victim who died was the driver and passenger of a motorcycle named Ngadiyo (46) and Sunoto (56), both residents of Rowosari Sub-district, Kendal Regency," he said in Batang, Antara, Sunday, April 12.

Based on the initial chronology, the motorcycle was traveling from west to east on the left lane of the Pantura line.

Upon arrival at the scene, the driver allegedly had a decrease in concentration so that the vehicle moved too far to the left until it went off the road.

As a result, the motorcycle immediately hit the back of the truck which was stopped on the shoulder of the road, causing the two victims to bounce.

The driver, Ngadiyo, was rushed to the Batang Regency Hospital with torn wounds on the left cheek and chin, but died on the way.

Meanwhile, the passenger, Sunoto, was declared dead at the scene with bruises on his chest.

The Police Chief, accompanied by the Head of the Police Traffic Unit, Eka Hendra Ardiansyah, explained that the results of the crime scene investigation showed that the road was straight and flat, the asphalt surface was in good condition, the weather was sunny, and the traffic flow was medium.

"Currently, we are still investigating further the exact cause of the accident, especially the factor why the truck stopped on the side of the Pantura road," he said.

The police appeal to motorists to always keep their focus while driving, especially on straight roads that often trigger a decrease in concentration due to fatigue or monotony of travel.
