Prabowo Subianto Resigns from IPSI, Acknowledges It is No Longer Effective

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto has confirmed that he will no longer lead the PB IPSI. He assessed that his position as head of state made him unable to work optimally in the pencak silat organization.

The decision was conveyed when opening the XVI National Congress of IPSI at the JCC, Senayan, Jakarta, Saturday, April 11. Prabowo said he had been inactive on the front lines of the organization for almost three years.

"It's impossible for me to be effective," said President Prabowo.

Prabowo admitted that he had served in IPSI for 34 years. Four periods as deputy general chairman and five periods as general chairman. However, now, his priorities have changed.

He emphasized that he would still support from behind. According to him, under the new leadership, IPSI's coaching could be stronger. Prabowo also alluded to his successor. He did not mention his name, but asked the participants to choose the best figure.

He admitted that one big goal had not been achieved, namely bringing pencak silat to the Olympics. Even so, he is optimistic that the next generation can make it happen.
