JAKARTA - North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Pyongyang on Friday (10/4), according to Chinese state media.

During the meeting, Wang Yi reiterated the Chinese government's willingness to increase cooperation and strengthen communication with North Korea (DPRK).

In talks with Kim, Wang stressed the need for the two countries to increase coordination on international and regional issues amid a changing and uncertain global situation, according to the Xinhua news agency.

Wang, who is on a two-day visit to North Korea, earlier met with North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui on Thursday. They agreed to strengthen bilateral relations based on the consensus reached in September between Kim and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Wang Yi's visit to Pyongyang comes ahead of US President Donald Trump's planned visit to China to meet Xi in mid-May, after it was previously postponed due to the US-Israeli conflict with Iran.
