JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto has ordered the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to discipline the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) which runs the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Program which does not comply with technical instructions and standard operating procedures.

This was conveyed by the Deputy Head of the BGN for Public Communication and Investigation Nanik after attending a government working meeting at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, April 8.

"The President ordered that kitchens that were ugly or did not follow the regulations be disciplined," said Nanik as reported by ANTARA.

Nanik also reported to the President that his party continued to suspend or temporarily close SPPG-SPPG that did not comply with the regulations, causing extraordinary events (KLB), including if there were partners who raised the price of raw materials and monopolized suppliers for personal gain.

"Good, continue," said the President while giving a thumbs up as imitated by Nanik.

Not only ordering the SPPG to be disciplined, the President also asked that the provision of MBG be directed to the beneficiaries who must indeed be improved in their quality, not those from the middle class.

"So if the children are able-bodied, they don't need MBG because their parents can already provide good nutritious food at home," he said.

Nanik stated that he would form a team to comb through MBG recipients to be targeted, so that the distribution would really provide benefits and not be wasted.

The President also emphasized that the implementation of MBG should not be done forcefully, especially for the able community group and schools that declare that they do not need the program.

"The president conveyed that this program should not be imposed. MBG must be focused on children who really need nutritional improvement," said Nanik.

According to him, the needs-based approach is the key to making this program truly effective in improving the nutritional quality of the community, especially for vulnerable groups.

"We want to ensure that MBG is on target and has a real impact. Therefore, we will continue to strengthen supervision and evaluation so that this program runs optimally," he said.
