JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto reminded of the threat of a global crisis that includes food, energy, and water as fundamental issues that must be anticipated by every country.
According to Prabowo, these three sectors have long been believed to be the determining factor for the safety of the nation and have also been projected by the United Nations through the sustainable development agenda or sustainable development goals as potential crises that will hit the world.
"I have believed and I have disseminated the main things that I believe are the list of national safety, and this has been confirmed by the UN in the sustainable development goals, where several years ago the UN had predicted a world crisis, a crisis that would hit the whole world are three things namely the food crisis, the energy crisis, and the water crisis," said Prabowo in a briefing at the Red and White Cabinet government working meeting at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, April 8, reported by ANTARA.
The President conveyed that this view had been fought for and expressed in various thoughts for decades, including in his books which emphasized the importance of resilience in the food, energy, and water sectors.
Regarding the conditions in the country, Prabowo said Indonesia did not experience fundamental problems in water availability.
Indonesia is actually considered by Prabowo to have excess water, although in some areas, especially in the east, there are still difficulties.
"In certain parts of our country, in eastern Indonesia, certain islands still have water problems, but we can overcome it because the water is there, it's just whether we can get it and take care of it, because sometimes we ourselves can't take care of our nature," said Prabowo.
According to the Head of State, water issues are more related to management and ability to maintain nature, such as forest damage which can trigger drought.
"Our forests are cut down, the trees on the mountain are cut down, and finally the water cannot be held, there is drought, but these things can be overcome. There are countries that are rich in oil and gas but have no water," said Prabowo.
President Prabowo gathered the Red and White Cabinet, ranging from ministers, deputy ministers to officials at the I-level of ministries/institutions, at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, to deliver a briefing in person.
Head of the Indonesian Government Communication Agency Angga Raka Prabowo conveyed that the President wanted to convey the direction directly to all levels of officials so that there was a common understanding in the implementation of government policies.
"The President feels it is important to convey it directly to all levels I, because we are all one. In a ministry there are ministers, supported by the I-level, and the ranks below them," he said.
He added that the President is likely to convey strategic matters related to government policies and state administration, including the latest developments.
