Update On COVID-19 As Of May 10: Difficult To Predict Spread Patterns To The Percentage Of Transmission

JAKARTA - Government spokesman for the handling of COVID-19, Achmad Yurianto explained, there were an additional 387 positive cases of COVID-19. Thus, the total accumulative rate reached 14,032 people.

However, there is still good news received. Where based on data on cases recovered also increased by 91 patients. So that the total number of people who recovered was 2,968 people. Meanwhile, the number of cases died increased by 14 people to 973 people.

So, for people under monitoring (ODP) it increased by 1,843 people with a total of 248,690 people. Meanwhile, for patients under surveillance (PDP) there were 30,317 people with an additional 627 people.

The data was obtained after the government conducted specimen examinations to detect the spread of COVID-19. About 158,273 specimens from 113,452 people have been examined.

Examination of the specimens was carried out by two methods, namely, real time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for 157,769 specimens and molecular rapid test (TCM) for about 504 specimens.

The Spread of the Corona Virus is Unpredictable

The high number of positive cases shows that the spread of COVID-19 is still rife. Thus, it is difficult for the government to predict the pattern of the spread of this deadly virus.

"In some areas there is still no consistent graphic pattern which is difficult for us to guess from day to day," said Yuri at Graha BNPB, Jakarta, Sunday, May 10.

Based on the data collected so far, positive cases are increasing every day. However, when referring to the number of additions, the numbers are always changing, inconsistent or fluctuating.

"In some areas there are also inconsistencies. Several days we see the increase in the number of cases is not much, but in the last few days there has been a significant increase," said Yuri.

For this reason, it is important for the community to always obey the recommendations of the government in preventing the spread of COVID. Because, there is no vaccine or medicine to cure it.

The use of masks is very important for someone who is sick or not. This is to prevent transmission from people without symptoms (OTG). Because, based on data, the potential for transmission reached 70 percent.

"OTG, who then does not use a mask and is in someone else's environment, has a 70 percent chance of transmitting the disease to other people. However, if he uses a mask, drastically the percentage of chances of transmitting it remains 5 percent," Yuri said.

The reason, of course, is due to the pattern of spreading COVID-19 using the drop plate method. OTGs will not be aware that saliva when speaking has the potential for transmission of the virus

"Because all the droplets sprinkle her saliva when talking. When coughing while sneezing, her mask is held back by her mask. So that it does not only spread directly to other people but also does not contaminate objects around her," Yuri concluded.
