Banten Police Investigate Sexual Violence Case at Untirta Campus

Banten - The Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Banten Regional Police is investigating a case of alleged sexual violence reported to have occurred in the vicinity of the campus of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University (Untirta).

Head of Public Relations of the Banten Police, Police Commissioner General Maruli Ahiles Hutapea in Serang, Sunday, said that the alleged sexual violence case occurred on Wednesday (1/4) and the official report from the victim had been received by the police on Friday (3/4).

"The incident occurred with the reported initials MZ. This suspected criminal act is suspected of violating Article 14 paragraph (1) letter a of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Sexual Violence Crimes," he said.

Investigators from Subdit IV of the Banten Police Criminal Investigation Unit have taken the initial step in the form of an examination of the reporter with the initials LK. This examination was carried out to thoroughly investigate the chronology of the incident.

"In the process of handling this case, we have seized a number of evidence for the sake of investigation," he said.

The evidence, including one sheet of the result of the visa, one mobile phone belonging to the reported person, a removable disk (flash drive) containing a video recording of the victim while in the bathroom, the victim's clothes in the form of a veil, shirt, and pants.

His party appealed to the public to always be vigilant and maintain personal security, especially when in the vicinity of public facilities and educational institutions.

Maruli asked the public not to hesitate to immediately report to the police if they know or experience criminal acts through the emergency Call Center 110 service.

"The police are committed to handling this case professionally and transparently to ensure justice for victims in the educational environment," said Maruli.
