Condemns the incident in Lebanon, Prabowo emphasizes that the state will not forget the service of TNI soldiers

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto delivered a harsh condemnation of the heinous incident that took the lives of three of the best TNI soldiers while carrying out a UN peacekeeping mission (UNIFIL) in Lebanon. The expression of deep sorrow and the firmness of this country's attitude was conveyed directly by the President through his official social media account.

"We strongly condemn any heinous act that undermines peace and causes the death of the nation's best soldiers," Prabowo wrote in a post on the @prabowo Instagram account, Saturday (4/4) evening, quoted by Antara.

Last Honor at Soekarno-Hatta Airport

President Prabowo not only made a statement through cyberspace. On Saturday afternoon, the President was present at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, to give the last tribute in the funeral procession.

The atmosphere was sad when the coffin wrapped in the Red and White flag arrived at the airport. In front of the coffin, there was a photo of the three soldiers with the background of the UN logo and the wives who sat as heirs.

Identity of the Fallen Soldier

As a form of appreciation for their extraordinary dedication in maintaining world peace, the government granted the Extraordinary Rank Increase (KPLB) to the three soldiers:

"The state will be present to honor the services of the soldiers, maintain their honor, and ensure that the sacrifices made are not forgotten," said the President.

In addition to condemning the perpetrators of this heinous act, Prabowo also invited all elements of the Indonesian nation to remain solid. He emphasized the importance of maintaining harmony in the midst of this international grief.

"Let's continue the spirit and determination to maintain peace, and not give space to anyone who tries to divide the unity and harmony of the nation," he added.

This incident is again a reminder of the high risks faced by Indonesian peacekeepers under the UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) flag. The government ensures that it will continue to monitor this case at the international level for the honor of TNI soldiers.
