JAKARTA - Social media users praised the initiative of Dubai International Airport (DXB), Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) after passengers leaving the airport were given souvenir packages, as the war in the Middle East continues to impact travel across the region.

The package contains two small Dubai-themed fridge magnets and a greeting card.

"When you leave, please accept this small token of appreciation on behalf of Dubai," the card read, quoted from The National (25/3).

"We greatly appreciate the way you have handled the unique situation over the past few days," he continued.

"Dubai always prioritizes the safety and well-being of all citizens, residents, and visitors, and we hope you see this for yourself. We wish you a safe journey and hope to welcome you back," he concluded.

It is known that commercial aircraft heading to and out of the UAE and across the Gulf region have faced significant disruptions since the latest conflict between Iran and the United States and Israel on February 28.

A post shared by @DanQayyum during the Eid al-Fitr holiday was widely shared on X, and was praised by users who saw the gesture as a reflection of Dubai's hospitality.

Meanwhile, a representative from Dubai Airport confirmed this to The National on Monday.

"These are the little things that make Dubai always my favorite city. A small gesture that carries a lot of meaning," commented a user.

"If you go to Dubai, your heart will never really leave it," another added.

"A classy move from Dubai." "Small gestures like this show why this place feels like home," another user wrote.

Meanwhile, DXB Chief Executive Paul Griffiths said flights were operating at around 40 percent of full capacity, with arrivals and departures operating south in a safe air corridor over Oman airspace.

"Around 153 destinations are served, with 5,700 flight movements between March 2 and March 16," Griffiths told Dubai Eye radio.

"We have the responsibility and concern for all our customers and staff in our hearts," he continued.

"We will continue to ensure that the aviation industry in Dubai continues to be the best in the world, both now and in the future," the statement said.
