Police Stabbed In Palembang, Suspects Of Terrorism Appear To Mental Disorders

JAKARTA - The police confirmed that they had not found any links to a terrorist network related to the man with the initials MI who stabbed Bripka Ridho Otonardo at the traffic post 418 Jalan Force 66, Kemuning District, Palembang, South Sumatra.

This man's action went viral on social media. In the video uploaded to the Instagram account @palembang_bedesau, the man appears to be sitting in the post then with his clothes covered in blood.

"While we are still investigating," said South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Indra Heri to VOI, Friday, June 4.

Separately, the Head of Public Relations of the South Sumatra Police, Kombes Supriadi, said that based on the results of the preliminary examination, the perpetrator was indicated to have a mental disorder.

"While the results of the interrogation have no connection (terrorism network) and have a history of mental illness," said Supriadi.

The background of the perpetrator was known after the police dug up information from the family. However, Supriadi continued, his party will confirm the statement by conducting psychological tests on the perpetrators.

"The next step we will do (psychological examination)," he said.

Meanwhile, the condition of Brigadier Ridho, who suffered a stab wound to his neck, has begun to improve. The victim is still undergoing treatment at the M Hasan Police Hospital in Palembang.

"It's starting to stabilize," said Supriadi.
