3 Hours Nemangkawi Task Force Shoots Contact With KKB At Papua Ilaga Airport

JAKARTA - The joint military and police officers were involved in a fierce gun battle for approximately three hours with the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) around the Aminggaru Ilaga Airport area, the capital of Puncak Regency, Papua.

Head of the Nemangkawi Public Relations Task Force, Kombes M. Iqbal Alqudusy, said that the gunfight with the KKB occurred when the joint TNI-Polri officers were conducting sweeps and cleaning in the Aminggaru Airport area, where it is suspected that there were still armed gangs.

"Around 05.30 WIT there was a shootout with KKB. Then at around 08.00 WIT there was another gunfight between the joint TNI-Polri team and KKB which lasted for approximately three hours," said Kombes Iqbal, quoted by Antara, Friday, June 4.

At around 11.30 WIT, TNI-Polri troops managed to process the crime scene (TKP) of several facilities that were burned and damaged by the KKB, including the Air Traffic Control/ATC building at Aminggaru Ilaga Airport, a damaged plane parked at Aminggaru Ilaga Airport. , two units of housing officers and one unit of heavy equipment excavators.

Residents go to the police

The increasing security escalation in Puncak Regency in the last two days has made residents more worried about their safety.

On Friday afternoon at around 11.15 WIT, around 50 community members came to the Puncak Resort Police to ask for protection because three residents died and three others were injured as a result of being shot by KKB in Nipuralema Village, Ilaga District.

The three victims who died were Patianus Kogoya as the Head of Nipuralema Village, Petena Murib and Nelius Kogoya.

Mandis Murib, who was injured, was shot in the right calf, Lesminus Murib was injured in the right ankle, and Jelemina Wanimbo was shot in the right eye temple.

The bodies of Nelius Kogoya and Petena Murib have been evacuated by TNI-Polri officers to the Ilaga Health Center.

"Another body is still being searched along with two other injured victims. A request from the family submitted by Enos Murib after the two bodies were identified so that they could be brought to Kampung Nipuralema for traditional burial and asked for full protection from the security forces to keep the community members safe in the village.
