Encourage the Revitalization of Solo Palace, Menbud Soroti Management of National Cultural Heritage

SURAKARTA - Minister of Culture (Menbud) Fadli Zon emphasized that the revitalization of the Surakarta Hadiningrat Kasunanan Palace should not stop at building repairs. Revitalization must touch on strengthening history, professional governance, and the use of technology so that the national cultural heritage area is alive and relevant to the public.

The affirmation was conveyed by Fadli when attending the Idulfitri Gathering at Sasana Handrawina, Keraton Kasunanan Surakarta Hadiningrat, Thursday, March 26. In front of the large family of the palace and invited guests, he called the Surakarta Palace the center of Javanese culture which holds a long history and civilization.

According to Fadli, the government through the Ministry of Culture encourages the revitalization of palaces, museums, and cultural areas gradually and sustainably. The goal is that the Surakarta Palace is not only maintained, but also developed as a cultural destination that combines historical, religious, and educational tourism.

"The Kasunanan Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace has great potential to become a world-class cultural destination," said Menbud Fadli.

He reminded that the status of the palace as a national heritage area requires shared responsibility to maintain and care for the values contained in it.

On the same occasion, Panembahan Tedjowulan said Idulfitri was a momentum to strengthen unity in the palace environment. He asked the entire large family of the palace to put the common interest above personal and group interests for the sustainability of the Surakarta Palace.

During the visit, Fadli reviewed Siti Hinggil, the Keraton Museum, and the Kilen Palace. The last area is said to be in the phase of technical study, mapping, and comprehensive planning, with the target of implementation starting this year. In the future, the Kilen Palace will be prepared to become part of an open museum that can be accessed by the public.

The event was also attended by the Mayor of Surakarta Respati Achmad Ardianto, the Ministry of Culture, the great family of the palace, and representatives of the Surakarta City Government.
