Polri Officially Ends Ketupat 2026 Operation, Second Balik Arus Lebaran is Anticipated

SEMARANG - The National Police officially closed the implementation of Operation Ketupat 2026 which lasted for 13 days from Friday, March 13 to Wednesday, March 25.

"Tonight (Wednesday) at 24.00 WIB, based on the TR of the National Police Chief General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the Ketupat Operation was closed," said Head of the National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Irjen Pol Agus Suryonugroho in Semarang, Central Java, early Thursday.

After the end of Operation Ketupat, the National Police will carry out an enhanced routine activity (KRYD). Personnel remain in the field to anticipate the situation of maintaining public security and order (harkamtibmas), including the peak of the second return flow which is estimated to take place on March 28-29, 2026.

Agus explained that during Operation Ketupat 2026, the volume of vehicles at the peak of the homecoming flow was recorded at 270,315 units, the highest number in history. "Compared to last year, 2025, there was an increase of 4.62 percent, which last year recorded 258,512 vehicles," he said.

Even though there is an increase in the number of vehicles, traffic flow can be controlled thanks to the implementation of traffic engineering, one of which is a national one-way during the peak of the homecoming and return flow.

"Traffic engineering management strategies, including one-way national and one-way local for a period of one stage, have succeeded in breaking the flow and managing the situation well. The homecoming flow has been passed," he explained.

During the Ketupat Operation, the fatality rate of traffic accident victims decreased by 30.89 percent and the number of accidents decreased by 5.75 percent compared to 2025.

Agus also expressed his appreciation to the public for obeying traffic, so that the number of accidents can be suppressed.
