Defense Ministry: Fuel Saving Policy Not Due to Fuel Emergency Condition

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) has confirmed that the decision to save on the use of fuel oil (BBM) in the Kemhan environment is not due to an emergency.

"This policy is taken now as a precautionary and cautious step, not because of an emergency condition," said the Head of the Defense Information Bureau (Karo Infohan) of the General Secretariat (Setjen) of the Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General (Brigjen) TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 25.

According to Rico, the main reason for the Ministry of Defense to save on fuel is to anticipate the impact of global dynamics, especially in Europe and the Middle East.

He explained that the global dynamics that occurred there were certain to affect the delivery of fuel to several countries, including Indonesia.

The impact of global dynamics makes the Ministry of Defense have to use various steps so that internal ranks save on fuel consumption, one of which is by implementing one day of work from home (WFH).

"However, for the supply of defense fuel, the principle is to ensure that the support for strategic operational needs is maintained," explained Rico.

Rico continued, his party could not confirm until when this regulation would continue to be enforced.

"Regarding the implementation period, it will be adjusted to the evaluation of the situation and future needs," he concluded.
