JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government responded to complaints from residents regarding the cleanliness conditions in the Pusaka Flag Park area, South Jakarta, which was recently opened to the public.

At several points in the park, garbage can still be seen scattered even though garbage facilities have been provided. This condition triggered the attention of the government, especially because the park is expected to become a new public space for the community.

Head of the DKI Jakarta City Parks and Forests Service, Fajar Sauri, emphasized the importance of visitors' role in maintaining the cleanliness of the park environment.

"The government continues to strive to provide adequate facilities and infrastructure. However, the success of maintaining cleanliness is determined by community participation," Fajar told reporters, Wednesday, March 25.

To anticipate this condition, Distamhut has placed other individual service providers (PJLP) in the park area. The officers are not only tasked with cleaning, but also actively reminding visitors not to throw away garbage carelessly.

In addition, a number of information boards containing rules and appeals were also installed at several points. This effort is carried out as a form of direct education to the public who come to the location.

The Provincial Government has also prepared additional hygiene facilities to support waste management in the park area. Coordination has been carried out with the DKI Jakarta Environment Service to add various supporting facilities.

The plan is to add ten units of three-type sorting bins, five 600-liter capacity bins, and six 200-liter capacity trolley bins.

Even so, the government emphasized that the existence of facilities alone is not enough if it is not followed by visitor awareness. The behavior of throwing garbage carelessly is still considered a challenge in managing public open spaces in Jakarta.

"We invite all visitors to be disciplined in throwing garbage in its place," said Fajar.

Fajar hopes that community involvement can increase, so that the cleanliness of the Pusaka Flag Park is maintained and does not decline quickly after being inaugurated.
