MALANG - The Malang City Police (Polresta) arrested two men with initials FNA (45) and SNS (24) who were suspected of being the perpetrators of the murder of a parking attendant in the Jalan Ijen area, Malang City, East Java.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Malang City Police, AKP Rahmad Aji Prabowo, said the two suspects were arrested after a series of investigations into the incident that occurred on Friday, March 20.

"There are two suspects who were arrested by FNA and SNS, while the victim has the initials SA (42). Our investigation was carried out through CCTV inspection and witness statements," he said in Malang, Antara, Tuesday, March 24.

He explained, before the incident, the victim and the two suspects had consumed alcoholic beverages at the location.

The incident began when the suspect FNA felt offended because he suspected the victim was flirting with his girlfriend. This triggered a quarrel that led to violence. FNA then stabbed the victim seven times with the knife he was carrying.

"The three people are both parking attendants. One of his friends (SNS) helped hold the victim. The wounds on the victim's body are mostly in the chest area," said Aji.

After the incident, the two perpetrators fled the scene of the crime using a motorcycle to a boarding house to change clothes.

Furthermore, they headed to Bendung Selorejo, Malang Regency, to dispose of evidence in the form of a knife, before finally fleeing to the Blitar Regency area.

The arrest was made after the police received information about the whereabouts of the perpetrator from the Garum Police, Blitar, last Saturday.

"Our team launched to Blitar and was assisted by the Garum Police in arresting the two perpetrators," he said.

For their actions, the two suspects were charged with Article 459 of the Criminal Code with a threat of death, life imprisonment, or a maximum of 20 years.
