JAKARTA - Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said his country would not deploy troops to Iran to form a military coalition with the US-Israel to open the Strait of Hormuz.

"We have no plans to carry out any expedition to Iran, and this does not raise doubts from our allies," Tusk said before a government meeting on Tuesday, March 17, quoted by Reuters.

US President Donald Trump has asked US allies to help secure the Strait of Hormuz by sending warships.

Tusk stressed that Poland would not send its ground, air, and naval forces to join the US-Israeli conflict against Iran which could potentially spread.

According to him, the Polish forces are focused on conflict prevention in the Baltic waters bordering Ukraine amid Russia's military offensive.

Previously, a number of US allies expressed reluctance to send their warships to help Trump open the Strait of Hormuz, which was blocked as a result of the US-Israeli aggression against Iran.
