Jordan and UAE Confirm Not to Join US-Israel War Against Iran

Yordania dan Uni Emirat Arab menegaskan mereka bukan bagian dari perang Amerika Serikat dan Israel melawan Iran. Sikap itu disampaikan Raja Abdullah II dan Presiden UEA Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan saat bertemu di Abu Dhabi, Senin, di tengah konflik yang terus meluas di kawasan.

According to Arab News, which was quoted on Tuesday, March 17, the two leaders stated that Arab countries did not initiate the conflict that broke out since February 28 and did not participate in it. They said that the member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and other Arab countries were trying to contain the crisis so that it would not spread.

During the meeting, the two also condemned Iran's attacks on their countries. Citing the official Jordanian and UAE news agencies, Arab News wrote that they considered Iran's aggression to be a violation of state sovereignty, international law, and a threat to regional and global security. Therefore, they urged that the military escalation be immediately stopped and the path of dialogue be prioritized again.

This statement came as the impact of the war began to be felt directly in the Gulf. The Associated Press (AP) reported that the UAE had closed its airspace as an emergency measure after missile and drone threats, while another attack triggered a fire in the Fujairah oil industrial area. AP also reported one person was killed in Abu Dhabi as a result of the attack.

Jordan and the UAE insist they are not parties to this war, although they have felt its impact.
