ACEH TIMUR - Social Minister (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf ensures that the distribution of funds for survivors of natural disasters in the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, prioritizes the principle of prudence so that it is targeted.

"The most important thing is that we distribute (assistance for survivors of natural disasters) carefully according to procedures because everything will be audited," said Saifullah Yusuf as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 16.

The Minister of Social Affairs together with the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri), Tito Karnavian, was present to hand over assistance worth Rp. 100.9 billion to survivors of natural disasters in East Aceh Regency. The symbolic handover ceremony took place at the Pendopo Regent of East Aceh, Kampung Jawa, Idi Rayeuk District, East Aceh.

He explained that assistance for survivors of disasters was carried out with procedures that allowed for the minimization of inaccurate targeting.

The recipient of the benefits, he said, must be ensured to be accurate and verified before being submitted to the Ministry of Finance. After the submission is approved, the Ministry of Social Affairs instructs the distributor to start distributing assistance.

Saifullah said that in Aceh, the assistance was distributed through PT Pos Indonesia so that it was faster and easier for residents to access.

He explained that there were three ways to distribute assistance, namely direct distribution at the PT Pos Indonesia Office in the area, handed over through communities, for example in villages or in the homes of agreed-upon figures.

Meanwhile, elderly people whose condition does not allow them to take assistance directly, will be visited by PT Pos Indonesia at their respective homes.

Saifullah added that the value of the assistance from the government was also quite large if it was assumed that per family head reached Rp. 60 million to Rp. 70 million.

Therefore, when assistance is distributed according to the needs, the recipients can make the best use of it to recover their lives from the impact of the flood disaster.
