DPR Says Sprinkling of Hard Water to Kontras Activists is Against Prabowo's Commitment, Asking the Police to Investigate and Arrest the Perpetrators

JAKARTA - Commission III of the DPR held a special meeting regarding the case of pouring hard water on the Deputy Coordinator for External Affairs of Kontras, Andrie Yunus.

In the conclusion of the meeting, the Law Commission said that the spraying of hard water against human rights activists was against President Prabowo's commitment, and asked the National Police to investigate and arrest the perpetrators.

Commission III of the DPR emphasized that Andrie Yunus must obtain his right to receive protection, both under national law and international law that has been accepted by the Republic of Indonesia. As well as both as citizens and as defenders of Human Rights (HAM).

"Commission III of the DPR RI emphasizes that the act of spraying hard water against Mr. Andrie Yunus is a form of resistance or resistance to the commitment of the government to protect the rights of the people.

"The Prabowo President's administration to maximize the protection, promotion, enforcement, and fulfillment of Human Rights as stated in the Asta Cita," said the Chairman of Commission III of the DPR, Habiburokhman, at the DPR building, Jakarta, Monday, March 16.

He also emphasized that Commission III of the DPR RI asked the National Police to investigate the case of pouring hard water to Andrie Yunus quickly, transparently and professionally, and immediately uncover and arrest the perpetrators.

"Both those who plan, order, carry out and provide assistance in accordance with the provisions of the law," said the Gerindra Legislator from the Jakarta District.

Commission III of the DPR also asked the Government, in this case the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) to guarantee all the best treatment financing and Andrie Yunus's health recovery.

"Commission III of the DPR RI asks the National Police and the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) to coordinate and provide special protection to Mr. Andrie Yunus and his family, his organization, and other related parties to ensure security so that there is no subsequent violence against them," said Habiburokhman.

He ensured that Commission III of the DPR would continue to monitor the handling of the case of water spraying against Andrie Yunus until the victim received justice for the incident he experienced.

"Commission III of the DPR RI will continue to monitor the handling of the case of pouring hard water against Mr. Andrie Yunus to ensure the enforcement of the law, truth and justice for Mr. Andrie Yunus by holding regular working meetings and hearings with related law enforcement officials," concluded Habiburokhman.
