Sulsel Governor 'Forbid' ASN to Ask for THR, Must Report Eid Gratuities to the KPK

MAKASSAR - South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman emphasized the prohibition for state civil servants (ASN) to ask for Eid al-Fitr (THR) allowances to the public, fellow ASN to companies in the lead-up to Eid al-Fitr 1447 H because it has the potential to cause corruption.

The South Sulawesi Provincial Government also emphasized that state officials and state administrators must set an example by not giving or receiving gratuities related to their positions.

"State employees and state administrators are obliged to set an example by not giving or receiving gratuities related to their positions and contrary to their duties, including during holidays," read the circular from Governor Andi Sudirman, which was received in Makassar, Thursday.

State employees or state administrators who have inadvertently received gratification related to their positions are also required to report it to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"State employees or State Organizers who receive gratuities related to their positions and contrary to their obligations or duties, are obliged to report to the KPK within 30 working days from the date of receipt of the gratification," the statement said.

In the circular, it is also regulated that the receipt of gratification in the form of perishable or expired food or drink can be distributed as social assistance to orphanages, nursing homes, or parties in need.

The distribution must be accompanied by a report to the Gratification Control Unit (UPG) in each agency, complete with documentation for submission to be then summarized and reported to the KPK.

The South Sulawesi Provincial Government also reminded civil servants and state administrators not to use official facilities for personal interests. In addition, the heads of associations, companies, and the community are urged not to provide any gratification to state officials.

"If there is a request for gratification to immediately report to law enforcement officers, the South Sulawesi Provincial/District/City Gratification Control Unit (UPG), or other authorities," the circular states.
